So, Dad calls me this morning at 9, and tells me he waited as long as he could to call me, but he couldn't wait any more.....
Mom had a couple heart attacks last night/this morning. When the Tums didn't help the really bad indigestion, and the nitro pill did, Dad threw her in the car and drove fast. She went in to surgery to get 3 stints (2 in one artery, and one in another), so the blood can flow again. While Dad was on the phone with me, she was supposed to come out of the recovery room. After waiting another hour, Dad went to ask what's up. The nurse told him she was taken to her room already, but when he got there, the nurse was stripping/cleaning the bed....*insert bad twilight zone music here* That nurse said she was in ICU. Off to ICU. Not there..."give us 10 minutes...." So, he goes to the cafeteria for some food, and comes back....still not there (via the phone system that you have to use to get into ICU if you don't have the code). They told him to give them another 10 minutes, and she'd be there. Right after he hung up, someone came OUT of those locked doors, so he went in, and asked in person.... It's been almost 2 hours since she was supposed to be in her room now, and no one seems to know where the heck she is (good thing I wasn't there...really....) One of the 4 nurses, made a phone call, and had Dad follow her. She was BACK in recovery. That whole time she'd been back in surgery. She'd complained of more chest pains in recovery, so they took her back for another angioplasty to see what's up. They found a smaller artery clogged, but decided to just let it go. They'd rather let that one close/die than try to stint it too. We found out with Gramps YEARS ago that too much too fast will kill you (he coded 6+ times when they did his). It's small enough that it won't affect her in the long term, but will be a bit painful for a while. SO, she's in ICU, because of the kind of blood thinners they use after angio, so no blood clots form and run around in the blood stream....that's bad, VERY bad. Dad thinks she'll be home Saturday, although, I'd rather she stay in the hospital until Monday, at least.
How's YOUR day?

Oh, she'll be ok. No news is good news. Dad will call me if something out of the ordinary happens.
