So, apparently in a recent interview, Amy Lee has said that she has some ideas for the next album already. She said that she sometimes records herself singing or playing the piano while on the tour bus. This means that she will be working on the album while she takes her break to be a wife. She could take advantage of this break to improve her skills as musician and write an album that could top any album that Evanescence has ever produced. ;D
As always, fans have expectations, but Amy Lee and the guys will produce whatever the hell they feel like. If you could give Amy some of your ideas for the next Evanescence album, what would you tell her?
Well, personally, the kind of album I would like would pull a bunch of different elements from different genres of music and further branch out Evanescence's sound (as if they don't have a wide-ranged enough sound already. Lol). I guess many would not agree with my ideas for a good album though, as it would not be much of a "rock music only" album. It probably would not be as loud as something like Fallen, for instance. I honestly hope that they won't produce some "symphonic metal" album and become the next Nightwish or After Forever. I would highly detest that kind of an album. Personally, I like a lot of variety in an album rather than a whole album of songs that sound pretty similar.

lol Amy's whole "take a break to be a wife" sounds so "Leave it to Beaver"/women need to be at home lol (no offense people)
Any who, I also like variety in music/cds.
I wish they would sort of go back to origin, like toned down, I guess you could say. Although, lyrically, I believe TOD is very much like Origin just louder and a bit different here and there.
I want a "old evanescence" sound so to speak, but updated, if that makes any sense.
Though personally, I hope they don't listen to the fans, because they should be making music they like, not what fans want...that is the saddest part of the whole music world!

Well, I remember that someone on EvBoard said that Amy should use a harp, and Amy replied by saying that there is no harp used on The Open Door, but she would consider it for the next album. I hope that she does, since using a harp would be a musical instrument that Evanescence has never used before, and it just simply sounds beautiful.

^^^Yeah I remember Amy saying she wants to learn harp.
I don't really know what I want for next album, but I here are some things I wish they do/work on:
1. Guitar solos. Seriously, those are much needed. And I don't care if it isn't super-duper fast shred. A guitar solo doesn't need to be fast to be good.
2. Amy should learn to articulate while singing.
3. Amy should get voice coaching/singing lessons or whatever. She's not such a good singer live, and quite frankly, this turn me off big time of Eva. Singing is just like playing any musical instrument. And I bet that if anybody was to play guitar at the same level Amy sings live, this person would get booed and kicked off the band.
4. Instrumentals. Terry and Tim need to show off their talent and be bold about it. I would be ecstatic if we were to get one instrumental on the new album.
ETA: and I do apologize if I don't make sense. I am too tired to think.

I agree with the singing lessons! I should say though, I seen them in 2003(I believe), it was there first big tour I believe, and she sounded amazing live. I think being thrown into a big tour like that and on the road so long took its toll, cause trust me she sounded amazing. Also agree with the articulate; thats the same as pronunciation isn't it? Because when words become one word...that isn't good, and that bothers me to death because I was in choir and we would get hounded for it...so to hear someone who gets paid for singing doing it is just wrong. lol
And yeah I pretty much agree with everything you say Mary

^^I just love how we all agree on stuff. lol
In any case, I do believe you when you say that Amy can sound amazing. I remember when she was doing the accoustic shows to promote ToD, wow. She sounded so good!!!!!! These shows always remind me why I love her voice so much.
And yup, articulate, pronunce (sp), all the same. And see that's what I don't about Amy. If she was into a choir, they must have told her to articulate. Then why don't she does it when she sings??
Honestly, I think that if Amy wouldn't be that sloppy when she sings, Eva would be better recognized and respected by non-fans. Afterall, she is the face of Evanescence.

I want them to use something random like a saxophone in one of their songs. Lol!

lol that would be random. A saxophone solo instead of guitar.
If their are going to be that random, I think they should do a guitar solo using a talk box, just like Vai did at some point on one of his album. This will make the guitar sounds like it's trying to talk. Pretty strange.
If not, then Terry could beatbox. ;D

^ Ha ha! ;D You know what I would really love? I would love them to bring back the acoustic feeling their music had during the Evanescence EP era. They should have an acoustic ballad (like "October") or a rock-type song (like "So Close"). I would also love them to have a song with a Celtic-type sound. When I went to Ireland last summer, I went to a pub one night to see some guy from England perform with his violin. I think that it would be cool if Evanescence had some sort of folk-ish sounding song on the next album, even though they're not from Ireland. I would love them to have ballad-type song, too, that has the sounds of an Enya song. ;D

Wow. I have been away for FAR too long from this forum... I kept seeing "Eva" get brought up in posts and I kept reading it as "Eva" as in the Nightwish song. I was like "Who is this Eva person and why does she keep getting brough up?" But then I just realized this abbreviation for the band. Haha. *Blonde moment*
ANYWAYS I would love to hear Amy do some new things with her voice. I mean, the layered vocals on The Open Door were pretty creative and amazing, but her background voices tended to sound a bit faded and as though not much had been done to them. If she synthesized her voice for even a line or two of a song, I think that would be pretty cool. Or do some different tone-work like deepening the pitch to produce male-like vocals for something. Haha. Idk. I guess I'd just like to see some new things done to distort her voice here and there.

This thread is a bit dead.
But I was wondering, has there been any news on when/if we will see a third album?

No, not yet. Amy and the guys don't really have a set plan yet. I would guess that it would probably be released in late 2009 or sometime in 2010.

ha. When I asked that I was thinking it had been a billion years since TOD had been released, but now I realize it hasn't been that long. Your probably right about it being released late 2009 or something in 2010. I kind of wish we got more news about the band, it seems we go months/year without news. I hope though for the next album it'll sound different from TOD, just like how TOD was different from Fallen. I say...experiment with a bunch of instruments and sounds.
