Anyone knows anything about this?
I hurt my left hand last monday playing guitar, but although it felt weird I could still move it. Wednesday I decided to cook, and that was probably a bad idea 'cuz afterward one part of my hand (beneath my index) got swollen. So I put ice and let my hand rest.
Flashfoward to friday when I could barely move fingers anymore; so I went to the clinic. Doctor said it was a tendonitis. But I don't get this, isn't a tendonitis suppose to hurt a lot?
And anybody knows how long these things take to heal anyway? Doctor said I should be okay by friday, but now it is tuesday and sure there has been small progress but I don't see how it'll be better by friday.
On top of that, my mom thinks I may not be able to play guitar anymore. WTF? Is that even possible that my hand never recover from this??
Anyhow, not sure if anybody here knows anything, but if you do, please share. And if not, then please you guys have thougghts/prayers for me...that's really shitty not knowing how things will turn out.

I have chronic tendinitis in my right wrist. I wear a brace when it acts up, because immobilizing it is the only way for it to get better, with daily use of naproxen or ibuprofen. If your doc says you don't need to do that, then you're not as bad as mine, but it's the repetitive movement of the guitar playing causing it. You have to get your body used to it, if your body can get used to it. Ice helps too, every few hours for 20 minutes at a time. Helps with the swelling more than the medicine does. Mine won't go away completely without surgery. Yours can get better with the proper care.

Thanks Robyn. Your post has reassured me. So I will keep on the ice treatment then. I see small progress everyday...I guess I just have to be really patient.
And I just had a yelling match with my mom yesturday. Ive been walking on eggshell for about a week now, so I sorta saw it coming. Anyway that mostly has to do with her misunderstanding what I meant. And of course, since she thinks she is right, it no use me explaining what I really said.
And again, this has boiled down to the whole youre a self-fish person and whatnot. The thing is, it is impossible for me to know what fucking expectations she has...and yet she does not tell me anything and gets mad and ignore the shit out of me when I dont live up to them.
Gosh sometimes I just hate her. I really do. Oh and btw, I did brought up the list I wanted to do the other day...at least now the cannot accuse me of not trying to solve this.
Man, I am getting old for this...way old. I wish I could move out from here...

Not any time soon. I need to go back to school in order to get a master degree in occupational therapy. There was a talk of me going in for the bachelor, but I am not sure yet...long story short, whichever option I choose I need the freaking master to be a certified occupational therapist. And on top of that, I need figure out a way to do that bachelor in music, cuz whatever happens I want that degree.
So yeah, no idea how things will turn out...I will try to do more at home though. And I promise to keep busy with volunteering and hopefully a job. I usually fight with my mom when I am home hanging out, so I try to avoid this. Besides hanging out at home gets boring...
Also I went to physio today, cuz my hand had not gotten better this last week. Wow. One session and I can actually move and bend my fingers. ;D ;D ;D Tomorrow, I get to play 5 min of guitar. ;D ;D
Also Robyn, do you know of a product name pennsaid? My mom used it for her achille tendons cuz it was all inflammed and stuff, and she said it was like magic. She also recommended it to one of her friend who used it for her kneed and who loved that stuff. I do not know how helpful it is for chronic tendonitis, but I though I would share this info with you cuz maybe this can help.

I've never heard of the stuff, but I'm thinking it's gotta be an N-Said (non steroidal anti inflamitory something that starts with a D) should work well, especially if it's an ointment. I want some then.

Yup, it's non steroidal. Although you put it on your hand/knee, it gives view a disgusting taste in the mouth though. Kinda like garlic...eew.
Intensive physio may be able to help you too. At least for me, it is seems to really help. The 3rd doctor I saw has given me stronger anti-inflammatory + told me to do physio 3 times a week. Not cheap. But seems to be helping.
Although, yesturday I washed my hair, and it seems to have stressed the shit out of my hand. Been feeling all crappy since then.
Wanted to post more around here, but typing is not doing me any good...
Patience, patience, patience. ;D

I did 6 months of physio, 3 times a week....It helped, but to FIX it, surgery is needed. That ain't gonna happen any time soon. Even the physio lady who came to the school I worked at said the same thing.
