Listen to the Rain
Origin Outtake
This song was written by Amy and performed by her high school chior as a senior graduation project. Amy was chior president. "Eternal" was originally supposed to fade into this song.
Listen to the Rain: Italics are male back up vocals. Note that this is a chior and it does have make vocals with the female vocals.

Listen to each drop of rain (Listen listen) Aaah Whispering secrets in vain (Listen listen) Aaah Frantically searching for someone to hear Their story before they hit ground Please don’t let go Can’t we stay for a while? It’s just to hard to say Goodbye Listen to the rain
Aa..ah Listen listen listen listen listen listen listen listen to the rain Weeping Oo...ooh oooh ooh ooooh Oo...ooh oooh oh oh

I stand alone in the storm (listen listen) Aaahh Suddenly sweet words take form (listen listen) Aaahh Hurry they say for you haven’t much time Open your eyes to the love around you (Aaahhh) You may feel you’re alone But I’m here still with you You can do what you dream Just remember to listen to the rain
Oo...ooh oh oh oooh ohh Oo...ooh oh oh oooh Listen

Some info:
It was sung by a choir belonging to Pulaski Academy in Little Rock, Arkansas, at Amy Lee's graduation ceremony (which DoubleA on EvThreads said that it was performed either 98 or 99) On some lyrics sites, LTTR is considered instrumental because the main lyrics of Amy are not present. LTTR was suppose to be on Origin (therefore it's an Origin B-Side) and be sandwitched in between Eternal (the 5 minute one) and Demise (a short 1 minute instrumental). For reasons unknown (I think its said that they didn't have enough time/room/space/whatever to put it on the CD or make it another track) it was not on Origin and it was scattered across the internet.
Info from: MLB, EvThreads, Eva Reference

I thought she wrote it for a senior project. That's what I was told/read.

She was president of the School Choir, so she, I believe, asked if it could be sung by the choir as some sort of project. So yes, that would be correct...

I don't really think it was a project, per se. I remember Amy saying in an interview that she had an idea for a song using a choir, so she randomly asked her choir teacher if she could write a song for them to sing. It was a weird request, but the teacher allowed it. Her choir class loved the song so much that they decided to perform it at the graduation ceremony later that year.

Then Origin was released later that year in November when she was a Freshman in college. However, she only completed one semester (the equivalent of half of the school year/two out of the four marking periods). That's because Evanescence got signed up to Wind-Up Records, so they moved to California in February of 2001 (although, they did apparently spend some time in a house in Memphis, Tennessee either beforehand or when they recorded the 2001-2002 demos).
