Cancer

The cyst on my head wasn't a cyst. It was a tumor. Basal Cell skin cancer (I don't wanna even TRY to spell the long word for cancer right now) is the most treatable cancer there is. Most likely I've already been "cured" by the removal of the tumor, or I may have to have more tissue removed from my head. I'm fairly sure that's the worst case scenario, at this point. The only thing that would change that is if it was cancer years ago and I didn't know it, since the lump's been there for about 7 years and I blew it off as a cyst.
Moral of the story kids....if you have a lump, no matter where the fucker is, don't just blow it off. Have the doctor take it off/out and don't wait. Had I just taken care of it eons ago, I wouldn't be going through any of this right now.
Oh, and BTW, I'm ok. I freaked out a bit this morning, but the word "cancer" is a scary thing. I'm a little scared still, but I'm not going to let it get to me until I KNOW what's going on next Monday when my doctor gets back from vacation.

So sorry to hear this...Well, I have to admit, I got a bit scared when I read the title of this. I couldn't help thinking "not another one"...
I just googled this cancer and found (over the skin cancer foundation) that it has an "extremely low rate of metastasis". So I am pretty hopeful that things are going to be just fine Robyn.
So of course, I am keeping you in prayers, 'cuz I want you to stay strong. I know that Jesus will give you the peace of mind you need, for the days to come. Good luck with this, and I'll be anxiously waiting to hear more news on this next Monday.
*hugs*

Doc says I'm cancer free right now. Gonna keep an eye on the spot on my head. I go back in 3 months for a quick look to see if anything's there or not. He's not 100% sure he got it all, since we weren't thinking it was cancer at the time, but even if he didn't, it's not going anywhere. If it comes back, then we'll get it out. None of the questionable spots on my arms and legs are cancerous, he said. I forget what he called a few of them, but they're wart type things (a Keratosis of some kind, but not the "chicken skin" type). The rest is eczema, and I need lotion. I already knew the lotion thing. So, I'm cleared for now. Just gotta be careful in the sun, wear hats, and not wait 8 years to have lumps removed. Learn from my mistakes, people....learn from my mistakes.
