I think this show deserves a thread of its own here, even if there is already one for the new movie. Recently, for the past few weeks or so, I've been getting my addiction back again. I've been watching a bunch of episodes on my DVD's and on TV, if I'm in the mood for watching them. There are actually still many episodes of The X-Files I haven't seen yet, it's unbelievable. There are also many episodes that I need to re-watch because I have either completely forgotten its plot, fell asleep when I originally intended to watch it, or I wasn't really paying attention or was distracted while trying to watch it. Yesterday I had mini-marathon (I guess you can say) of episodes that I had already watched but needed to watch again. I watched "El Mundo Gira," "Kaddish," and "Synchrony" from Season 4, then "3" and "Fresh Bones" from Season 2. They were all great episodes with their own unique qualities. Though I'm still just a little bit foggy on the plots of "3" and "Fresh Bones," but I think I get them for the most parts or realize that I'm supposed to make the lines in between. Anyways, anyone up for any episode discussion or just talking about the show in general?

Funny, you mention getting back into the show, same happened to me. After season 9, I was pretty indifferent to the show. I mean season 9 was boring (and no, not just because Mulder was gone...) so afterward, I sorta move to other thing. (Namely, Dark Angel and Alias. lol)
But I got back to it a few months ago, after I knew there was going to be a movie. Due to hand injury, I couldn't play guitar, so I had a lot of free time on my hand. So, I watched season 1 through season 5. I own most of the eps on tapes (yes! Tapes!!!!), and fortunately, everything was still in good condition. (Imagine my shock. lol)
Most of the ep you mention rewatching are actually the ones I wouldn't rewatch Evan. lol I just though they were really boring.
As for "3" this ep happens about 6 months after Scully has been abducted, so Mulder is very much depressed. I don't have it on tape...I too got confused by it, so that's why I didn't keep it. I did read a review on it once, and to be frank I almost feel like rewatching it now.
Linky for eps review: redwolf.com.au/xfiles/ I highly recommend you downloading this pdf. I usually read the review of the eps before I rewatched it, and I get them a lot better.
The episodes I've rewatched lately are "One Breathe", "D.P.O" and "The Goldberg Variation". All are pretty good. Especially "One Breath". That is one of my fav ep ever. I think I must have rewatched it 2 or 3 times lol. I just love the scene where Mulder finds Scully in the hospital and starts to freak out. "I will do anything, whatever it takes, I will find out what they did to her!" I love the delivery of that line, it explains so well how Mulder feels and the path he goes on through this ep.
On another note, have you ever watched "Redux II"? That scene were Mulder comes in and find Scully in the hospital? I don't know why, it always give me a flashback the scene I just mentioned in "One Breath"....

Thanks for the website link. I actually just viewed that site a few days ago, and now I'll be sure to save it my favorite/bookmark it. Do you know of any good review sites? What you mentioned about the episode "3" isn't actually what confused me. There is one scene when Mulder and the woman (I think her name may have been Christine?) are trying to escape from the house, and the woman is in the car. Then, out of nowhere, some other woman appears and the woman in the car floors the gas petal and rams the other woman into the wall, where she dies and slowly slips to the ground. Later on in the episode, when the house is blown up, the officer tells Mulder that they found four dead bodies in the house. So... what confused me, I guess, is that why were there four people instead of three? I thought that the vampires formed a pact of three members instead of four. Unless, the young woman that Mulder met at the night club wasn't actually a vampire. Maybe she was on her way to becoming a vampire and was helping luring victims for the others to replenish their thirst from? I'm not sure if I'm explaining myself well... sorry. Anyways, I love "One Breath" too. Really, I love a lot of episodes from Season 2. It's probably one of my favorite seasons from the show. What I loved the most from the episode "One Breath" were the scenes where you saw Scully lost somewhere inside her mind stuck between life and death. The opening scene of her when she was little girl picking up the dead snake off the ground while Gillian Anderson gave a monologue was just gorgeous. I also liked the scenes where she was on the rowboat out on the lake with someone pulling her ashore towards the dock with a rope and the one with her lying on the table and her father talking to her while wearing his uniform. I'm not sure if I've seen "Redux II," to be honest. I mean, I have probably watched "Gethsemane," "Redux," "Rudux II" to view the three-part story that they form, but I just don't really remember what happens in it. Is "Gethsemane" the episode where Mulder goes somehwere far up north in Canada where they venture inside an ice cave to uncover and alien corpse? If so, then I've probably watched "Redux II," but I just don't remember what happens it in quite exactly. Anyways, what "One Breath: actually reminds me of is "Momento Mori" from Season 4 (an episode that I also really like), just because of all the scenes of Scully looking sickly and lying on hospital beds, I guess. Anyways, I like "D.P.O." as well. It's a pretty good episode. I don't think I've actually ever seen "The Goldberg Variation" but, from what I've heard, it sounds good. I'll be sure to watch it eventually. On Sci-Fi they're actually on Season 7 right now. They showed "all things" yesterday, which is actually an episode that I don't think I have ever seen before either. I probably should have watched it, but I was too busy using the computer at the time. By the way, do you know the reason why "all things" is written in all lowercase letters? That has always intrigued me. I realize that the episode was actually written and directed by Gillan Anderson herself, so maybe that somehow has something to do with it? You're pretty lucky that you still have a bunch of episodes on your tapes. I'm not sure if my mother ever recorded the show onto tapes, but she probably did not. I was a bit too young during the early years of the show to really watch it, but I think I can remember watching the show all the way back to when Season 2 was originally aired. All I remember is watching certain scenes from "Humbug" and "The Calusari" on TV back in 1995 when I was about four-and-a-half. I guess me memory ain't so bad, huh? Do you really think Season 9 was that bad? I guess I have to watch it some time eventually. I remember the second to last episode though, called "Sunshine Days," when the Brady Bunch appeared to living inside a home. I thought that episode was sort of lame. Anyways, do you prefer the stand alone episodes or the mythology episodes? I personally like both, and I would like to watch all the mythology episodes back-to-back someday. I still have never seen "The Erlenmeyer Flask" (and "Tooms") from Season 1 because my DVD set came with two Disc 4's. Oh well, I guess. Eventually, I want to buy the whole series on Blu-Ray in a few years anyways, and hopefully every episode will be included. ;D

Oh, I get what you mean about "3". To be frank that has confused me too...Well, there are 4 pple dead in the house because of Christine + the vampire alliance thing. I *think* that Christine killed one vampire, so that she could take her place and kill the vampires. At first, I think she wanted to be a vampire and use Mulder's blood to do so (the blood of a believer) but upon meeting Mulder she changed her mind and decided to save him. So, she used her blood as the blood of a believer, so ultimately she'd become a vampire but also die [in the fire]...At least that's what I got from it...but I still don't how that lady got there in the first place. And how Christine tricked Mulder to leave the house... I read something about this a while back....I'll try to find out the link and edit them at the end of my post.
Oh all those scenes you mention of "One Breath". <3 Hum, there is someone pulling her ashore towards the dock with the rope? I don't remember that...I though that the rope was just connecting her to the dock...Oh and did you notice in the first, on the dock, where Mulder is there with her sister, how Mulder is standing compared to her sister? He has his arms crossed on his chest, whereas Melissa seems more relax. I just love the subtilities of this scene...how Mulder/Melissa's mind are portrayed without words though their body language.
Oh, and in the scene where Mulder comes into is appartment and it's all messed up and he starts to cry. Did you notice that the sounds we hear of Scully's dream (the birds) are present in that scene? Funny how I always though this means something but can't figure out what. My guess is that maybe at that point, he accepted to let go of his guilt and live...maybe like Scully did when she fought back to life...
Yes, "Gethsemane" is the were he goes to Canada and find that alien body. If you get a chance to rewatch them, along with "patient X" and "the red and the black", I highly recommend it. At that point, Mulder gets into this whole "I am not sure what I believe anymore" and that's a really good thing to watch in order to get an understand of Mulder and Scully and their relationships.
Yeah, I never got why "all things" was written in lower cases. That always bugged me. Somebody should ask GA about it. lol It was on the Sci-Fi, but you didn't watch it? Oh I think you missed the TV promo of the movie then. I don't have Sci-Fil (unfortunately) but I heard the TV promo aired during "all things"...
Wow, you grew with the XF, didn't you? First episode I watched was either 'Momento Memori" or "Lenoards Betts", and it was in French. And the French are one year behind the Americans, so I ended up catching up the reruns of Season 5. And at least your mom doesn't think TXF is stupid, mine does.
Was season 9 that bad? Yes and No. I guess it depends what you are looking for. I mean on a stand alone, that's probably okay. But if you are familiar with the entire series, than I'd say no...I mean, Scully is whinning all the time. The mythology is really really not making sense anymore, and I don't get Doggett or Reyes' motivation in working on TXF. Why do they care? Why should I care about them?
I love both MOTW and Mytharc eps. That's really what I like about XF, it's the diversity. That was really smart of CC to do. lol And I do the same with the mythology eps. But you haven't what Tooms or The Erlenmeyer Flask? What a shame!!! Go there: www.surfthechannel.com/show/television/The_X-Files.html

Hey, Mary. I'm sorry for replying so late. My family went away for a few days and my Internet has been acting screwy for the past few days. Anyways, thanks for your input on the episode "3." Your interpretation makes sense to me. To be honest, I haven't watched the episode "One Breath" in a really long time, so I'm not sure if there was or wasn't anyone pulling Scully's rowboat ashore. Maybe I just made up that minute detail in my head. It's interesting that you mention Mulder's and Melissa's differing body languages. I think I can picture it in my head too, even though I haven't seen the episode in a great while. I don't remember anything about birds... sorry. I will definitely rewatch all the mythology episodes some day, just so that I can understand the full story and remember everything. Did they really air a movie promo on Sci-Fi during "all things"? Wow. I've actually been seeing promos for the movie on TV for the past week or so. I'm supposed to call for my mother if I ever spot any promos. She always doesn't make it in time though and completely misses them. Yes, my mother loves The X-Files too. My mother and I are the only two people in my immediate family that really like the show. I think everyone else just thinks it's "okay." I checked out the link that you provided that features all the episodes a few days ago. I only watched the beginning of "The Erlenmeyer Flask" before I turned it off. It was in Japanese or something... or the subtitles were in some different language. All I saw was what looked like a car chase on a steep, hilly street. Speaking of Season 9, I just watched the episode "Jump The Shark" recently. I actually bought the whole series of The Lone Gunmen on DVD. Have you ever watched it? It was a spin-off of The X-Files featuring the Lone Gunmen as the main characters. The show is actually very good. It's very funny. I also bought the First Season of Millennium on DVD. It's another show that was created by Chris Carter and when the show ended they did a crossover episode on The X-Files titled "Millennium." All I remember in that episode is Mulder and Scully's kiss at the end. But anyways, back to my point: "Jump The Shark" was an okay episode in my opinion, but it could have been done better. Anyways, thank you for all the links. I'll be sure to check them out soon. By the way, I found this site that I think you may like. It's an episode guide to Mulder and Scully's relationship on The X-Files. I found some of the author's summaries for the episodes to be quite funny. Well, enjoy! members.aol.com/kipler2/rguide.html

Sorry it took me forever to reply Evan. I meant to do it sooner, but I've been running around lately.
In terms of mytharc, I think I tried to make sense of it until season 5. Afterwards, I just enjoyed them but didn"t look too hard into it making anything sense. Did you watched the episodes were the story of Mulder's sister gets resolved? It was in Sein und Zeit/Closure, season 6. I haven't watched these eps in years, but from what I remember I think they were interesting. My only complain probably has to do with the fact that the mytharc wasn' really involved there...and quite frankly I would have liked to get some closure on these clones' story. lol There were so many Samatha clones over the years, unbelievable.
Oh and I have one interesting question for you. Do you believe Mulder's sister was really abducted by aliens? In my case, I am not so sure anymore... I remember Mulder saying that he only remembered the abduction after he did the hypnosis. To me, this has always maded me think that the whole abduction thing was part of his imagination, and probably his guilt too.
About surfing channels, it does have subtitles in there. But the dialogues are in English, so it's not so bad. I like it considering that I can now watch TXF on the computers. Although lately, I've been catching up on Alias. lol But that's another story.
As far as Millenium, I was never ever to watch for some reason, but I did watch the Lone Gunmen. If I remember correctly, few eps were aired replacing TXF during season 8 and then it moved to friday. It was a great show, and really funny too. My point of contention was that it was a bit too comedy like....I think it would have been better if it was more dramatic, because then, I think it would have been easier to take the characters and their quest more seriously. Oh and the theme song of that show, it is sooooo goood. I even tabbed the solo guitar once. That's how good it was.
So I am guessing that you'll go see TXF2 with your mom then? I'll probably bring out my dad with me, since by then we'll be gone on vacation. I was planning on being there on july 25th, but I don't think it'll be possible since I'll be away on vacation. But I did check the theaters nect to were I'll be leaving, so that I can go see the movie.
And thanks for the websites. I totally got a nice kick of the summaries, especially the poem to bambi and the comments on season 8 and 9. ;D

Thanks for the interview. Um... what Chris Carter is saying is that he bases a lot of his stories on The X-Files with scientific facts? That's cool. And he still attends college classes? Why? He has a pretty successful career already. It's cool that he wants to further his education though.
