^ Yeah, I knew about the test before the break. I did study for it during that week, but I forgot a bunch of the information during the break. And really, it was impossible for me to study for the test for most of the vacation. My History textbook is HUGE and I already had to bring some other homework with me to the British Virgin Islands to do over the break, unfortunately. All of my other teachers allow us to choose when we want to make up a test. Having to take the test the day you get back from a long break is just plain unfair. Also, I actually have a big research paper like you do. It's due towards the end of May and has to be about anything from the 1980's. And then I have to record some kind of movie to go along with it. On top of that, I have to write an analytical essay comparing two books I have to read on my own time with another work we read in class. The essay is due June 1st. *Sigh* Sometimes it really sucks to be in an English Honors Class.

That was pretty mean of your teacher. Teachers know that students need time to prepare for tests. Teachers want students to prepare for tests. I don't know what was up with that guy. However, the better thing to do would probably have been to offer to take them ahead of time. In college, lots of professors pretty much make you do that anyway. It makes the beginning of your trip more stressful, but then you get to totally relax.

^^^This guy has issues, obviously, I found that many high school teacher are like that. They like to feel superior by making it hard for students and not respecting them.
The thing is, in their real life, these teachers wouldn't treat other people like that. But they do so with kids because they can. ETA: Jess, I feel your pain. Good luck with the writting!!

teachers aren't paid to stay after school, and most are discouraged from doing so. most also have second jobs right after school, since teaching pays shit. it's possible that it wasn't an option for said teacher.

But still... I could have taken the test during a free period, which would be Lunch for me, if he couldn't stay after school. He could of allowed me to take the option.

Not necissarily. Sometimes they can't even do THAT. At my daughter's school, they're not allowed. Where my friend teaches, it's the only time they have to do planning and stuff for their next class, so they really don't have the option of a make up test then. High school sucks, no doubt about it, but really, if you were supposed to take it on a day that you were on vacation, you should have already studied and been ready for the test before you left. That's how the teacher is looking at it. It's not HIS fault you were absent, it was yours (by default), therefore, you take the make-up test when it's convenient for him, not for you. Now, if it had been the teacher's fault you missed the test before you left on vacation, it would be the other way around. See his point of view?

My Lunch Period is 7th Period, and he has a class 7th Period, so he could have easily just let me walk into his class to take the test and sit in the back of the classroom while he teached his class. He's just lazy and wants to get everything done right away. He has let other people choose when they want to take the test. I don't see why he had to do that to three of us on that day.

But you can't assume he was just being a jerk unless you have the reasoning behind what he did...which he didn't tell you. You know what I mean? I was in that position, and know many who still are, and the kids are privvy to everything. I've seen my friend do exactly what you suggested, let a kid take a test during another class, and got in trouble for doing so. Do the kids ever find this out? Nope. Not supposed to anyway. Bottom line is, you were supposed to take the test prior to your leaving, so you should have been prepared for it already, as stated by someone esle. I DO hope you did well, and the situation sucked, but, such is life.

I know I should have been prepared and I did study for it, but I couldn't bring my textbook with me on my vacation. He should have assumed that most of us were away most of the time and did not arrive home until it was too late to study. He could have been nice and just given us the choice to choose the next day (Tuesday) instead of the day when we returned to school back from the break. That's my only complaint.

Oh yay my return to this topic! Now, get some popcorn and sit down everyone. Another dusy of my life come to instill drama into the world once again. Apparently, I cannot go back to my high school until I take 'reality' tests on Monday. Here's where it all started. Okay, so you all have heard of me go on at times about my video game. The fact that I want to be a software-engineer and make my video game is pretty much known to everyone that I have met in my life. I have been working on my video game since 5th grade, so that's 6 years now. Its a sword and shield game, think Dynasty Warriors + God of War + Onimusha + Tenchu type of game. Back in the days, medevil, ancient times type of setting game. The charecters in it are my peers from school. Now then, every one of my 189 charecters in my video game acknowledge to some degree that they are in it and some even go as so far as to request storylines or different things to occur in it. For example, some people fall in love while others become kings and queens and ect. The charecters are based on the real life personalities of the people, however given some fantasy elements also come into play here. Now then, considering that I cannot continue a storyline if the person moves away or no longer goes to the school, they have to have some sort of ending in my videogame. Therefore, the charecters must be killed (to add more drama to the storyline, such as a best friend killing another and one takes vengence in the name of honor and things like that.) So now, I have shown this to most of the 189 charecters, over 15 teachers, my counciler and plenty of other people including my family. This is all I ever talked about for 6 years and everyone is fine with it. On Thursday, my friend wanted me to help me organize my charecter guide and such because every so often it becomes obsolete from old storylines or changes and etc. So I gave it to her. She had it in her files when she left to go to lunch and put it in my Civic Teachers Room because that's always where she leaves her things. Now then, someone apparently went through her things, found it, and turned it in to the adminstration. Now then the Track Coach who apparently does other things as well got his hands on it and went to the track team (since some of them are charecters) and asked do you know who made this. And they are like 'oh John did that' and he is like 'do you know your in it' and they are like 'yeah, he's been making that thing for years' Now even at THAT response, wouldn't you think at least the people in it have SOME sort of understanding that they are in it? Umm duh?!? But anyways on second period they called me in to have a meeting. They apprently broke into my locker and photocopied my book covers and my report card. I had to 'explain' to them why some writings were in other languages and some 'writings' meant. All of the writings were from Femme Metal Bands. Nightwish's Kueloma Tekke Tajitalian, which in English is 'Death Makes Me An Artist' is about a woman who wishes to die in jail so her child still thinks of her fondly. I have Latin, German, Finnish, Spanish and Romanian lyrics on my books because they come from different bands (Falsches Spiel -Epica, After Forever Latin's, Nightwish's KKT, Spanish poems, Romanaina from Rob Zombie etc.) SO after that, we talked about my straight A report card. That shows that apparently I think school is important...uhh duh. And I answered their questions. 'Why is So and So a villain in your game?' 'So and So? They are my best frined. They love the fact that they are villians cause all the spotlight are on them. then they asked me some questions like the setting and why I made it and stuff like that. I'm like 'listen, some people eat when they are under stress (wither good or bad) some shop, some exercise, others do other things. I make my video game because I know it will be my future and I want to share something with my peers during high school reunion. And I told them if you have any questions on my 45 page charecter guide you can ask me and they said that wasn't necessary. I still want the original back. So then I asked them will this be a big ordeal like Freshman Year and my science class and they said no. So I fully expected them to not call my parents and drop it. Hah! Thought I did tell all the people in my classes and some of my teachers. They said if anything happens, will petition for you. It made me happy So I get home and my mother's like; I had to go to your school at 9:34 to have a meeting with the peoples. And my mother thinks it's stupid too because this is old news. THIS ISN"T SOMETHING THAT MAGICALLY JUST OCCURED!! THIS HAS BEEN KNOWN AND HAPPENEING FOR 6 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!! Helllllllooo! If it was anything bad, don't you think I'd try to hide it from the people and teachers instead of saying 'read what I wrote! I'm making a video game!" Even the TEACHERS wanted to be in it! If it was anything bad, don't you think they'd say something?! People would come up to me and say 'hows your game coming?' or 'I want to fall in love with this person' or 'I want a pet kimodo dragon please' etc. So now they said I might have more 'meetings' and have to do 'reality tests' to make sure I'm not in 'la la pyscho land'. Um? Does this seem a bit STUPID to you people? I mean, if A] People in my video game KNEW about it, KNEW about the charecter guide with their names in it and WERE OKAY with the fact that they were in it because they want free copies at the high school reunion to parade around the fact that theya re warriors and angels and kings and queens and even TEACHERS wanted to be in it, how in the HELL does the school get the right to be 'concerned' about something that everyone knows and doesn't give a fig about. And B] how do they get the right to say I CANNOT come to school (which really ruins my days because I have LOTS of work to do and tests and labs and even if you miss ONE day you get crammed with loads of work and new lessons) and now this ridicoulous thing I have to deal with as if I had nothing else to worry about. Well...at least I can sleep a bit later on Monday <_< What do you guys think? Cause I mean I don't want 6 years to go down the drain and this has made me so sad that I almost broke down at work yesterday and the customers had to make me feel better (love thoughs guys *hugs customers*)

^Holy shit that is crazy!
That is very extreme, especially since your mother went down there and this is old news to her, if your mother was worried she'd of done something 6 years ago, they don't seem to care though that your mother is okay with it, they also don't seem to care that TEACHERS and your PEERS are okay with it.
This might sound extreme, but your parents might be wise in getting a lawyer, especially a lawyer who deals with teen rights and stuff. This I do advice if your going to be missing school, because even if you were to try and transfer, they will make it VERY defficult in doing so.
Now I, in some ways, can see why they would take "caution", but with all the people who know about this and who are okay with this...it is a little "silly".
I hope everything works out for you! And don't give up on your video game, its nice to see someone your age with so much passion for something!! Most kids "passions" last for a week or a month...and yours has lasted way to long to let it go.

God, John.....DON'T give up your dream!!!! That's all I can say. Don't let "the man" hold you down. You'll be old enough soon to just do what you need to do. You're obviously responsible, as you have a job, get straight A's AND are able to keep up on some online places and work on your dream. Everyone's just still freaked over the school shootings, and I guess they're profiling you, which is stupid. I have to go to work....but I'll be back later, if you need to talk.
